Hello there! Welcome to my blog.

I am Mehret Biruk, a digital wellness coach, and I’m here to help YOU (re)discover the pleasures of the offline world!

Seven years ago, I deleted my Instagram account to take back control of my time and attention (that was back in 2013– oh, how time flies!).

That decision jump-started my interest in learning more about how social media, our digital devices, and the Internet in general impact our social, psychological, and physical well-being, and what we can do about it. 

I began a personal revolution against the attention economy. Throughout the years, I deleted all my social media accounts, began blogging about digital wellness, and hosts a digital minimalism meetup group.

WHAT IS DIGITAL WELLNESS?

Digital wellness refers to the state of our physical and mental health in the digital age. More importantly, digital wellness focuses on preventative measures aimed at regulating and improving the healthy use of technology.

The attention economy is designing irresistible experiences online, from addictive video games to endless social media feeds to increasingly attract and engage users. 

As technology evolves and our time is increasingly spent online, we must learn to adapt and overcome the dangers of digital dependence.

The digital wellness revolution has began!

The past few years have witnessed a proliferation of movements, organizations, and individuals seeking to establish a holistic and unified approach to tackle the challenges and issues faced by individuals, and society at large, during the attention economy.

A few weeks back, I had this idea, seemingly out of nowhere, to start a digital wellness coaching practise to join the digital wellness revolution and help individuals rediscover the pleasures of the offline world— that’s my tagline! 

As a digital wellness coach, my main goal is to TEACH, INSPIRE, and EMPOWER individuals to began their journey towards a healthier digital life and experience the Joy(s) of Missing Out.

At this tiny corner of the Internet I will share with readers all things related to digital wellness and digital well-being in the 21st century.
